Garden Update May 27th, 2012
The state of things...working in my garden which has turned more into a French potager than I intended.
The former chicken pen now has lattice to hide the veggie garden and our compost from the chickens.
Adding compost and new plantings to the former strawberry patch.
Our hydrangeas and delphiniums are clearly doing great.
The first offerings from the Ebb Tide rosebush.
Why yes, yes I do have black and purple iris blooming.
A kind bird planted this because I sure did not...the amusing part is when planted from seed or start my foxgloves have not survived.
The last of the Spring bulbs are finishing up including this beautiful red anemone.
MY champagne iris.
So last year Beth Adams and I went to Farmington Gardens for some plants. She bought a gorgeous hanging succulent garden and one broke off a tiny fragment which Beth gave me suggesting I shove it into my garden. Less than a year later and this is huge and blooming!
This Lotus maculata is a new favorite ground cover and the flowers which look like flames really are stunning!
Clearly the ground cover is taking well in the front yard. I will probably break this one up a bit but to the right you can see Irish moss which grows wild in our yard so I did not plant any.

The Garden July 2011
Oregon has had such crazy summer weather which has meant interesting things for our garden. Here is our garden view - everything is getting so big!

Partial shade garden: hydrangea, hostas, ferns, corsican mint and spagnum moss

Delphimiums

The Orchid Primroses before getting planted right by my strawberries, oregano, deliphiniums and fig tree.

Latest addition is this stunning Orchid Primrose which is a perennial.

I am also in love with this little wild flower that seems to want to try and take over my pond area.

Ebb tide roses...

My black obsidian heuchera thanks to Michele and Greg!

A garden view...

A plant Brian and David gave me from their yard is now blooming!

The corsican mint has officially taken over!

These two rose bushes are now doing very poorly since the shade is getting more and more heavy where they are at so they are going to be relocated soon.

New additions throughout the shade garden.

Hostas

The fence replacement project - here is the hole duig to remove the large chunk of concrete removed from the ground from the prior chain link fencing so the guys could set the second fence post. The first fence post is set up against the other fence.

The fence replacement project - here is the stump from the birch tree - you can see all the wood chips to the right from where Patrick used the stump grinder to eliminate the rest and to the direct right of the stump is the large chunk of concrete removed from the ground from the prior chain link fencing so the guys could set the second fence post.

Thanks to Ikea (lanterns), Home Depot (chain) and my husband we now have lovely hanging lanterns in our cedars for our table.

A visitor...

Elephant garlic and dragonfly.

Trying to get the dragonfly to fall for my tattoo while Scott, Patrick and Spencer brew beer in the background.

Our little friend toured the whole yard for quite a bit of time posing here and there.

The dragonfly seemed to really enjoy the pond area.

Honey bee and Thyme

Corsican mint in full bloom.

Project 365: June 27th through July 3rd
June 27th: Technology...our shiny black laptop collection is shiny once again after I stayed up to clean the house spotless...

June 28th: My gorgeous garden photo of the week. I honestly stare at my yard these days in awe because everything looks so beautiful.

June 29th: Dinner at Abby's Table with my friend Chrystina Anderson - everything was seriously beyond amazing.

June 30th: A funny thing happened at the office - so this stupid ice machine in our break room has been broken for over a month...they have rebuilt it and supposedly repaired it countless times. At this point we suspect they just gave up since it would work for like a day then be broke again. So, our boss taped up a poem to it....

July 1st: Dinner and drinks with Melissa and Beth at Urban Fondue for a girls evening. I so love these women and am proud to have been friends with Beth since the 3rd grade and Melissa since the 7th grade.

July 2nd: Thanks to my awesome husband, Ikea (lanterns) and Home Depot (chain) we now have hanging lanterns for our outside table which look super cute.

July 3rd: Delphiniums...I was so happy this beauty not only came back but is taking over its section of my part shade garden.
